Easton, PA – Junior Alan Goff scored a career high 21 points and Matt Logie added 26 points but it wasn’t enough to push Lehigh past archrival Lafayette on Wednesday evening at the Kirby Sports Center. Brian Burke’s career high 43 points gave Lafayette a 98-93 win, extending Lehigh’s losing streak to 11 straight. The setback drops Lehigh to 4-22 overall and 1-12 in the Patriot League, while the victory improves the Leopards to 14-12 overall and 8-5 in league play. Lehigh came out gunning early in the first half, and ran out to a 20-point first half cushion at 43-23 with 5:54 to play in the first half. Goff scored 15 points in the first to lead Lehigh, while junior Matt Logie hit three 3s for 11 first half points. However, the Leopards battled back in the waning moments of the half, to cut the Lehigh lead to eight points, 51-43, at the intermission. Lafayette was propelled by 20 first half points from Burke in the comeback effort. In the second half, the Leopards slowly cut into the Mountain Hawks’ lead, and eventually tied the contest at 77 with 5:54 remaining on a three from Burke. Lafayette was soon able to grab the lead, and eventually, out-last Lehigh to pick up the win. Lehigh’s 93 points scored marked the Mountain Hawks’ biggest offensive output of the season. Lehigh will wrap up the regular season on Sunday when it hosts Bucknell at Stabler Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:15.
