Lehigh snaps 11 game slide

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh’s two seniors shined in the final home game of the season, as the Mountain Hawks upset visiting Bucknell by a 75-64 score in front of 2,113 at Stabler Arena on Sunday. Scott Taylor was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field, scoring 20 points to lead Lehigh, while the Mountain Hawks’ other senior, Bobby Mbom was 6-for-10 from the floor, pouring in 14 and pulling down four rebounds. The win stops an eleven game losing streak for Lehigh, improving the Mountain Hawks’ record to 5-22 overall and 2-12 in the league. The loss drops Bucknell to 12-15 overall, and 8-6 in league games.
Taylor scored nine in the first half, and junior Matt Logie added eight for Lehigh, as the Mountain Hawks shot 50% from the floor in the first stanza. Not to be outdone, Bucknell guard Bryan Bailey also poured in nine points, and the Bison shot 52% from the floor, as the two teams went into their respective locker rooms deadlocked at 37.
Lehigh turned it up in the second half, as the Bison would not lead in the game’s final 20 minutes. Alan Goff added six second half points for a total of ten, as the Mountain Hawks pulled away for the double-digit victory. Lehigh shot a season best 55% from the floor on the afternoon, and forced 19 Bison turnovers.
Taylor and Mbom were two of four Mountain Hawks scoring in double figures on the afternoon. Goff added ten, and Logie scored 16. Bailey’s game high 21 points led Bucknell. Boakai Lalugba added 14 in a losing effort for Bucknell.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Saturday, March 2 in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League tournament. Lehigh is seeded eighth, and will face the top-seeded Eagles of American at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Fans can purchase tickets by calling (610) 7LU-GAME.
