Portland, OR – Lehigh battled back from a 15-point halftime deficit to upset Portland 76-73 on Saturday evening at the Chiles Center. Junior Matt Logie drained a jumper with 35 seconds to go to give Lehigh the lead and the win. The win was the first of a two game west coast swing and was the second straight win for the Mountain Hawks when playing west of the Rocky Mountains, with the first being last year’s win over Air Force. Logie, playing just three hours away from his Mercer Island, Washington home, led Lehigh (3-8) with 20 points including the game winning bucket with 35 seconds left in the game. He shot 7-of-12 from the field connecting on 5-of-9 from behind the arc. "This is a great win for our team and for me personally," said Logie. "Coming into this game a lot of people probably didn’t think we’d have a chance but we battled hard and found a way to win. These two games are big games for me especially since it is so close to home." Logie’s jumper with 35 second to go gave Lehigh the lead 74-73 and a pair of free throws by junior Alan Goff sealed the deal at 76-73 to give Lehigh the win. Goff finished with 16 points including a pair of three-pointers and a game high seven assists. Senior Scott Taylor stepped it up for the Mountain Hawks in the paint scoring 12 points and pulling down five rebounds. Lehigh shot just 27% in the first half but rebounded in the second half to finish at 45% for the game. Coky Rochin led all scorers with 23 points scoring 11 from the charity stripe. Rochin finished the game with a double-double pulling down 16 rebounds. Casey Frandsen finished with 14 points in the losing effort. Portland (4-8) shot 37% for the game after shooting 45% in the first half. Lehigh will play the second game of its Pacific Northwest trip on Monday afternoon in Corvallis, Oregon when it takes on the Beavers of Oregon State. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
