Lehigh struggles in Ithaca

Ithaca, NY – After a twelve day break for final exams, Lehigh struggled to return to form, losing to Cornell 69-61 on Saturday evening at the Newman Arena. The Mountain Hawks fell to 2-8 on the season while the Big Red improved to 2-7.
     

It was a sloppy affair with Cornell leading most of the game including the entire second half. Lehigh trailed by six with just under a minute to go but could not get any closer as the Big Red shot 41% from the field including 38% from behind the arc.
     

Matt Logie scored 16 points on five-of-nine shooting including four three-pointers to lead the Mountain Hawks. Matt Crawford scored eight points and pulled down four rebounds while Eric Heil scored ten points and recorded four blocks in the losing effort.
     

Ka’Ron Barnes scored 19 second half points and finished with a game-high 21 points to lead the Big Red. Barnes was 7-of-13 from the field and added four rebounds to the effort. Wallace Prather scored 15 points for Cornell. Prather pulled down five rebounds and dished out five assists. Gabe Stevenson finished with a double double scoring eleven points and grabbing eleven rebounds in his first game of the season. Randy Gabler rounded out the Cornell players in double figures with ten points.
     

Lehigh returns to action on December 29th when it travels to Oregon to take on the University of Portland at 10:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. The game can be seen on WFMZ Channel 69 in the Lehigh Valley beginning at 10:30 pm Eastern Standard Time.
