Lehigh returns home to face Swarthmore

12/3/2003 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball

Lehigh returns home after a two-game road trip in Connecticut to play host to Swarthmore.  The Mountain Hawks dropped a pair of contests up north, falling to Sacred Heart on Saturday and to No. 3 Connecticut on Monday evening.  Senior Austen Rowland led Lehigh with 19 points against Sacred Heart, but a last second dunk by the Pioneers propelled them to the 58-56 victory.  On Monday, Lehigh hung with the third-ranked Huskies for much of the game, and tied the score at 24 with just over two minutes remaining in the first half.  Freshman Jose Olivero came off the bench and netted a career and team high 17 points for the game.  In the end, UConn simply had too much size and depth, and won 75-55 before a crowd of 16,103 at the Hartford Civic Center.

The Garnet are coming off of an 82-66 win over Philadelphia Biblical School on Monday evening.  Matt Gustafson led the team with 15 points, while Jacob Letendre dished out a school record 11 assists.  For the game, Swarthmore shot 50 percent from the field and 86 percent from the charity stripe.

Wednesday’s tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 from Lehigh’s Stabler Arena.  The game can be heard live on WKAP-AM (1470) in the Lehigh Valley, and around the world on the Internet at lehighsports.com.
