Ayres steps up to new Wrestling post

Bethlehem, PA - Lehigh Athletics announces that Chris Ayres has taken over the Harmon-Rauch Assistant Coaching position for Lehigh’s wrestling team.Ayres has served as a part time assistant coach at Lehigh the last four years. Ayres is a Lehigh graduate and has acheived two degrees, a B.S. in Marketing and a M.E. in Elementary Education.

            Ninth year head coach Greg Strobel expects to use alumnus Jason Kutz, who is still serving in the military, for the next year as a second (part-time) assistant. Though an active member of the U.S. Army, Kutz will be volunteering his services to Lehigh during planned leave periods throughout the season.  Kutz is still among the top national freestyle  competitors as a lightweight.  Kerry McCoy, still training and focused on the summer Olympics, will continue to serve as a volunteer assistant.

            Lehigh will open its season next Friday, November 14, against Iowa State in front of a sold out crowd at the newly remodeled Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall.  The meet will be broadcast live on the Sports Monster WEEX 1230/1160, and televised locally by Service Electric TV-2.
