Easton, PA – The Mountain Hawks were already set as the third seed for the upcoming Patriot League tournament next weekend, and perhaps got caught looking ahead as rival Lafayette beat Lehigh 3-1 Friday night for their first Patriot League victory of the season.  The Mountain Hawks finish the regular season at 18-13, 8-6 in the Patriot League while Lafayette improves to 6-24, 1-13.

It started out well for Lehigh, as they took the first game handily 30-19.  But Lafayette came roaring back to win three straight, 30-25, 30-24, and 30-18. Veronica Canto-Ponce had a huge night for the Leopards, leading all players with 23 kills.

Jeannette Singleton led the way for the Mountain Hawks with 19 kills on the night to go along with 18 digs.  Four players overall reached double figures in digs for Lehigh, led by senior libero Jill Kober’s season high 25. Jill Racketa also had a season high 16 digs, and Allison Jack had 11 digs to go along with 38 assists. Michelle Schwendenmann had 14 kills, her 11th straight match in double digits.

The Mountain Hawks will begin play in the Patriot League tournament next Saturday, November 22, as they take on the second-seeded Bucknell Bison.  The winner of that match will take on the winner of the Navy-American matchup.
