The offense awakens, but Lehigh loses at Monmouth

The Lehigh offense finally woke up on Wednesday afternoon, but a furious second half rally by the home team gave Monmouth a 4-3 victory. It was a crazy game, with high winds wreaking havoc on the players and the play on the field.
Lehigh took a 2-0 lead into halftime, with Gina Lewandowski netting her team-leading sixth goal of the season. The second goal came in impressive fashion, as Lauren Calabrese scored directly off a corner kick.
Things started to go haywire for the Mountain Hawks in the second half though, as All-League goalkeeper
Coach Manny Oudin was happy with his team’s play despite the loss. “We played well, and took advantage of our opportunities,” said Oudin. “I especially thought we played tough when we went a man down, and still attacked and even scored. But in the end, we were just unlucky, and Monmouth came out on top.”
Lehigh will continue its season on Saturday as they take on American in Patriot League play. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak, and will have to do so without Iwaskiewicz, who will have to sit a game due to her red card. Ruth Solomon will start in goal for the first time this season in her place. Game time is set for
