Very few basketball players have had the success that Shawn Steward had in her four years at the University. 18852Her name is written throughout the record book.

Steward was the first Lehigh woman to score 1,000 career points, and was a four-time East Coast Conference First Team All-Star performer. As of 2017, Steward still ranked fourth on the program’s all-time career scoring list with 1,638 points. At the time of her graduation, she held the program record for scoring average with a 16.2 points per game over four years. Steward also recorded the most steals over a career in Lehigh 18853history with 278, a mark that was still good enough for second all-time as of 2017. She also finished her career second in assists with 471, a mark that was still fifth all-time as of 2017.

Named the South Side Boosters Outstanding Women's Basketball Player in 1984 and 1986, she was the winner of the Steckbeck Award for Outstanding Freshman Athlete. Steward was named to the Cornell Invitational All-Tournament team in 1983-84, in addition to the Lady Greyhound All-Tournament team in 1984, and the Harvard Invitational Most Valuable Player in 1985.
