Kerry Loughman O'Hearen

Loughman O’Hearen sits in the top 10 across nine categories in career statistics in the Lehigh Volleyball Record Book: serving aces, total kills, blocks per set, solo blocks, total blocks, kills per set, attack attempts, attack percentage, and digs.Â
To say she excelled at all aspects of the game would be a considerable understatement. She earned team MVP honors as a junior and senior – those same years she was named All-ECC First Team as well as a PAIAW All Star.
Each year as a player she excelled on the court in specific areas. As a first year, she set a record with 376 total kills. As a sophomore, she set a record for total blocks and block assists. 97 aces set a record as a junior. She landed there for digs as a senior.
Her athletic excellence resulted in her being named the Outstanding Athlete in 1987, an accolade that celebrated her contribution to the team and the sport.
As she entered the workforce and raised two sons with their own athletic ambitions, the lessons she learned on the court stayed with her. She shared those lessons as a parent, colleague, and coach: the need to work hard, strive for excellence, manage multiple priorities, and, most importantly, celebrate the wins and learn from the losses. And then get back to work.
This philosophy aided her success after Lehigh. She has worked in human resources in various industries, from fashion to technology to finance. Currently, she serves in that capacity at a non-profit organization. She and her husband, Sean, (whom she met through her Lehigh roommate) cheer on their son Liam ’27 as he plays baseball for the Mountain Hawks and throughout Jack’s distinguished football career at Franklin & Marshall.
