Lisa Sweeney joins the Lehigh coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2010 season. One of the greatest players in Lehigh and Patriot League history, Sweeney graduated in May 2009 as the league’s career leader in victories and strikeouts, and became the first player in league annals to win four Pitcher of the Year awards, as well as Pitcher and Player of the Year awards in the same season.
A four-time first-team All-Patriot League selection, Sweeney amassed a career record of 94-21 in the pitcher’s circle with a 1.64 ERA and 928 strikeouts. At the plate, the Lumberton, N.J. native was a .353 career hitter with a school-record 23 career home runs. She was a four-time All-Region selection and was named the ECAC Player of the Year in 2008.
In the classroom, Sweneey also excelled as she was a three-time Academic All-District Selection, a 2008 third-team Academic All-American and the 2009 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for softball. She also won the Lehigh Athletics Department’s Graduating Female Athlete Award in 2009.
Sweeney earned her degree in history in 2009 and is currently in her final year of a five-year Masters Program for Secondary Education in Social Studies at Lehigh.
