In his one year on the Eastern staff, Fitzpatrick was a pivotal piece in in what was a historic season for the Eagles. Eastern won their first-ever MAC Commonwealth Conference championship and made a round of 32 appearance in the 2024 Division-III national tournament, which was also a first in program history. The Eagles finished the season with 21 wins, tying the program’s all-time single season win record.
While in college, Fitzpatrick was a multi-sport athlete. He spent his first three years playing basketball at the University of Dubuque, where he won a conference championship in the 2020-21 season. Fitzpatrick then transferred to St. Ambrose University, where he played an additional year of basketball and two years of soccer.
The Davenport, Iowa native used his fifth-year of eligibility to only play soccer at St. Ambrose, allowing him to focus on pursuing a career in coaching. Fitzpatrick spent a year as an assistant varsity coach and head JV coach at his alma mater of Davenport Assumption High School for the 2022-23 season.
Fitzpatrick comes from a family with a rich history in relation to the game of basketball. His aunt Jan Jensen was recently hired as the head coach of the University of Iowa women’s basketball team and his cousin Kate Martin is a current WNBA player for the Las Vegas Aces. In addition, his uncle Matt Fitzpatrick was a Division-I women’s assistant coach at UAB and Samford before returning home to coach at Davenport Assumption.
Fitzpatrick earned his bachelor’s degree in business management with a minor in marketing from St. Ambrose in 2023.
