Michael McCready begins his first season at Lehigh in 2016-17 as the video coordinator.
McCready came to Lehigh from University of the Sciences, a strong Division II program, where he was an assistant coach. He assisted in practice coordination, film breakdown and player workouts while also assisting in the recruiting process. He helped lead the team to a 17-12 record in 2015-16, reaching the CACC Semifinals. Prior to that position, McCready was a volunteer assistant for his alma mater Kutztown University, where he was on the basketball team, graduating in 2014 with his Bachelor of Science in Leisure and Sports Studies with a minor in coaching.
McCready is familiar to the Bethlehem area, serving as a volunteer assistant coaching at his former high school, Freedom. He was responsible for practice coordination, skill enhancement and player development while assisting and coordinating local Freedom Basketball camps. McCready has other basketball experience with the Brooklyn Nets, serving as an operations intern.
As a collegiate player, he won the Senior Award at Kutztown while garnering the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Media Organization Unsung Hero Award. He has coached at Lehigh’s summer camps as well.
“We are pleased that Mike has decided to join our staff,” said Reed at the time of his hire. “His experiences as an assistant at the college level, plus his stint with the Brooklyn Nets organization, have provided a great foundation for this next step in his career.”
