BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Based on the success of last year's event, Lehigh Athletics has announced that the 51st Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, will once again cover two days. For 2025, all high school races will take place on Thursday, October 2, while the college and open competitions will be on Friday, October 3.
Â
Lehigh adopted the two-day format last year to celebrate the 50th Paul Short Run, with additions of two additional races for both the high school and college levels.
Â
"Everyone involved in organizing the Paul Short Run continues to be humbled by the feedback we receive from athletes, coaches, and fans," said Lehigh Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Events Allen Biddinger. "Last year, we celebrated our golden anniversary by introducing some big changes. The support from Lehigh University, our sponsors, and the community was tremendous and allowed us a successful move to a two-day event. We look forward to building upon our past success as we celebrate the beginning of the next 50 years of the Paul Short Run in 2025."
Â
High school teams will select from either two or three scored races per gender on day one of the competition. Each race can accommodate 45 teams, comprised of 12 runners. Day two will feature a non-scored open race for each gender featuring post-collegiate runners and the overflow of collegiate runners not competing in the scored races. The four scored college races per gender will allow up to 10 runners per team to compete. The collegiate White Races will exclusively feature Division III schools competing head-to-head. This update, implemented last year, will allow the Paul Short Run to play a more prominent role in the formulas that the NCAA uses to select the at-large teams for the NCAA Championships in all three divisions. The Gold and Brown Races will continue to service NCAA Division I teams from throughout the country while still accommodating many top-tier ranked teams from other divisions. The new Green Race will add a competitive race for an additional 45 teams per gender.
Â
Thanks to our sponsors, ASICS, awards will still be presented to the top 25 individuals and the top three teams in all of the scored races. Additional activities are also planned and information will be released through Lehigh's social media platforms, including through X (formerly Twitter)Â @LehighPaulShort.
Â
Future information for coaches, athletes, and spectators will also be available on the Paul Short Run website leading up to the event. Â
The 51st Paul Short Run, presented by ASICS, will be one of three major cross country events hosted by Lehigh during the 2025 season. Lehigh will also host the Patriot League Championship and the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
