PHILADELPHIA - Lehigh's women's swimming and diving team traveled to Drexel University on Saturday morning to face the Dragons. The Mountain Hawks fell to Drexel 145-97.
Lehigh still had plenty of top finishers in the dual meet. First year Eliza Johnson had two top finishes, as she won both of her individual events. Johnson first won the 100-yard individual medley in 59.37, then followed that up in the 50-yard backstroke, where she narrowly won by two-hundredths of a second with a time of 26.98. The Mountain Hawks had a second podium finisher for the individual medley, as senior Caitlin Deitch placed third (1:00.67). Deitch also grabbed second place finishes in the 50-yard butterfly and the 100-yard freestyle, swimming 26.01 and 53.54, respectively.
Sophomore Zoe Davies and senior Mairin Ludwig took home wins as well. Davies led the 50-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 30.56. Ludwig got her victory over the 300-yard individual medley field, swimming 3:19.02, which gapped the rest of the field by seven and a half seconds. Ludwig also reached the podium in the 400-yard freestyle. She finished at 4:04.02, which was good for third.
First-year Genevieve Cody secured top finishes over multiple freestyle events. Cody earned second over 50 yards, where she swam 24.27. She also placed second over 150-yards, touching in 1:24.26. Right behind Cody finishing third was junior Eliza Meth, who swam 1:26.08.
The Mountain Hawks also reached the podium in two relay events. The team of Johnson, Davies, Cody, and Clara Moschella placed second in the 200-yard individual medley, swimming 1:45.89. This meet also had a mixed 200-yard freestyle relay. Moschella and Ludwig were joined by Aaron Williams and Davis Woerner, and they placed third (1:31.74)
On the diving board, junior Kate Whitaker kept her dominant season going with two podium finishes. She first placed second at the one-meter height, scoring 212.75 points. She bettered that at three-meters, winning with a score of 227.10. Whitaker was joined on the podium by first-year Jayden Yochai, who placed third (207.55).
The Mountain Hawks look to bounce back after a month off. They will face Marist on January 10 at home.
