BETHLEHEM, Pa. – First-year Ufuoma Omene was named the Patriot League Volleyball Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. In addition, junior Megan Schulte was given an honorable mention in the Player of the Week voting for her efforts at UConn's tournament this past weekend.

The Mountain Hawks (5-1) conducted a perfect weekend in Storrs, Conn., going 3-0 by defeating the likes of Merrimack, UConn, and Hofstra. Omene was instrumental for Lehigh, registering 26 total kills, nine blocks, and a .349 hitting percentage across those three wins.

Omene's performances against UConn and Hofstra allowed Lehigh to come back and win both matches. The Mountain Hawks were down 2-1 in sets in both contests, but forced a fifth set in both matches to win. Omene tallied back-to-back ten kill performances to help Lehigh earn the tournament crown.

Schulte, who was named the tournament's MVP, was also recognized by the league as an honorable mention. She recorded 45 total kills on the weekend, including 20 in Lehigh's tournament-clinching win over Hofstra. She averaged 3.75 kills per set and also tallied nine blocks and 20 digs throughout the tournament.

Lehigh hosts its annual Steel Classic Tournament this weekend, starting with a matchup against Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The other schools in attendance are Delaware State, Binghamton, and FDU, who the Mountain Hawks will face on Friday and Saturday.
