Brown Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After scoring all three goals in Lehigh's 3-2 win over rival Lafayette Friday night, junior Abbie Brown was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. This is the first career weekly award for Brown, who scored her first career hat trick to lead the Mountain Hawks to their fourth consecutive win overall and their third straight over Lafayette.

Brown's three goals came on three shots. She opened the scoring at 8:21, taking a pass from senior Sarah Bonthuis and shooting past Lafayette goalkeeper Raffi Fragomeni to give the Mountain Hawks an early 1-0 lead.

Early in the third quarter, Brown scored her second of the night, scoring off a rebound following a flurry of Lehigh shots. Lafayette pulled even again early in the fourth quarter but Brown delivered the game-winner with 5:20 to play, scoring off another assist from Bonthuis.

The hat trick was the first for a Lehigh player since Lenke Havas scored three goals in a 3-2 win over Longwood in August 2021.

For the season, Brown is up to seven goals, tying her with Bonthuis for the team lead. Brown's 15 points are second on the Mountain Hawks behind Bonthuis' 21.

Also Monday, seniors Sydney White and Maddie Kahn garnered honorable mention recognition for their efforts against the Leopards. Kahn made 10 saves in the win, matching her second-highest total in a game this season. White led Lehigh's defensive effort against Lafayette, helping preserve a one-goal lead late and helping limit Lafayette's top two goal scorers to a single shot apiece on Friday night.

Lehigh (6-5, 1-1 Patriot League) is back home Monday night to host Villanova with game time set for 6 p.m. from Ulrich Field. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
