
Mountain Hawks Sweep Utah Valley in Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Mountain Hawks opened their stay at the Fight in the Fort with a 3-0 victory over Utah Valley Friday afternoon at Texas Christian University.
Lehigh (5-3) had a trio of players post nine or more kills in the match, while Utah Valley's (4-4) top scorer topped out at eight kills. LU posted a 7-5 block advantage and held the Wolverines to a season-low .103 attack percentage.
Ana Spangenberg led all players with a match-high 11 kills and tied for the team lead with four block assists. The sophomore right side hitter recorded a .346 attack percentage for the match and has posted double-digit kills in the last four matches.
Texas native Julia Pressly and freshman Sabrina Lancaster also made big contributions offensively as the duo tied for the second-most kills with nine each. Lauren Bright posted eight kills and also contributed defensively with her match-high tying four block assists.
Spangenberg came out on fire in the first set as she posted six kills to go with a .600 attack percentage. Bright also played a big role offensively with four kills in the first set, while she and Spangenberg each posted two block assists. LU fell behind 14-10, but a 12-3 run fueled by four Spangenberg kills gave Lehigh the lead and the momentum to clinch the set.
Lehigh opened the second set with a 6-1 run and kept the Wolverines at a safe distance for the remainder of the set. Lancaster led all players with four kills in the set, while the Mountain Hawks posted a .314 hitting percentage in the frame.
Pressly helped lead LU to victory on the first night of her homecoming trip as she led LU with three kills on a stellar .750 hitting percentage in the third set. The Mountain Hawks again started out with a comfortable lead with an opening 9-3 run and never led Utah Valley make a threat at the lead for the remainder of the set.
Lehigh will look to ride the momentum of Friday's win into a challenging doubleheader slate on Saturday. The Mountain Hawks start the day with a matchup against the host Horned Frogs at 2:30 p.m. (ET) before finishing out the trip with a matchup against Duke at 5 pm. (ET).
