BETHLEHEM, Pa. – As the season opener quickly approaches next Saturday at Marist, Lehigh head men's basketball coach Brett Reed has announced that senior Kahron Ross and junior Kyle Leufroy will serve as the Mountain Hawks' captains. Ross and Leufroy are Lehigh's most experienced returnees, who look to lead a young squad in 2017-18. Both started and played key roles in the Mountain Hawks' back-to-back Patriot League Championship Game appearances.

"The team collectively is really adapting a lot of the principles that are going to be important for our success," said Lehigh head coach Brett Reed. "Two people have come to the forefront through nominations of team members, and that's Kahron Ross and Kyle Leufroy. Kahron and Kyle will be responsible for serving as a bridge between our coaches and players, and promoting our standards as we push through the season. I think they'll do a great job of understanding where we're trying to go and help push our team towards that direction, but also have a great feel for their teammates and the best ways to help them reach their potential."

Ross is a three-time All-Patriot League point guard, who enters his senior campaign with 533 career assists, needing just 34 to become Lehigh's all-time career leader and 67 to break the Patriot League career mark. Ross enters the 2017-18 season No. 3 in the nation among active players in career assists. He is already Lehigh's record-holder for assists in a season with 194 as a sophomore. Last season, Ross averaged 9.8 points (fourth on the team) and 5.3 assists.

Leufroy has also been a mainstay for the Mountain Hawks since his freshman campaign. Last season, Leufroy averaged 11.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, one year after averaging 10.6 and 4.0, respectively to earn a spot on the Patriot League All-Rookie team. In his career, he has shot 42.9 percent from three-point range, which is top 20 nationally among active players. Leufroy has amassed 690 career points in 63 games (53 starts), shooting 45.6 percent from the field and 83.1 percent from the free throw line.

Lehigh's season opener is set for Saturday, Nov. 11 at Marist before the Mountain Hawks return home to host Monmouth on Tuesday, Nov. 14 and Siena on Friday, Nov. 17, the night before Lehigh football hosts archrival Lafayette.
