BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh Athletics and Nassau Broadcasting have announced that Lehigh football, basketball and wrestling broadcasts will continue to be heard on two Nassau properties in the Lehigh Valley, following the renewal of a multi-year agreement announced Thursday. Lehigh broadcasts will remain on ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley, consisting of WEEX-AM (1230) in Easton, Pa., and WTKZ-AM (1320) in Allentown, Pa.
Lehigh wrestling has aired on Nassau's WEEX-AM (1230) for the past eleven years. Under an expanded agreement inked for the 2004-05 season, Lehigh football and basketball joined wrestling on the ESPN Radio outlet. The expanded agreement was first renewed prior to the 2007-08 season. This new agreement will keep Lehigh Athletics broadcasts on ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley through the completion of the 2015 spring athletics season.
"Nassau Broadcasting has been an excellent partner of ours for over ten years now,” explained Bill Griffin '79, Lehigh's Associate Athletic Director for External Relations and Advancement. “We are delighted that, under our new agreement, we'll be working together for another four years. Hopefully, our relationship, which provides important benefits to both parties, will continue well into the future."
The agreement includes promotional considerations, such as live broadcasts before every football home game at Goodman Stadium. ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley will also produce and air other content dedicated solely to Lehigh Athletics, including segments on the acclaimed Happy Hour nightly local call-in talk show. Lehigh head coaches will continue to be regular guests on the program.
Lehigh Athletics broadcasts have always been among the most valuable AM sports properties in the Lehigh Valley, with Mountain Hawks football ratings consistently leading all college broadcasts in the area.
“We are very excited about our continued relationship with Lehigh University athletics,” said Pat Lincoln, Director of Sales for Nassau Broadcasting. “With the new contract, our relationship will have continued for over a decade. We look forward to many more years partnering with such a great sports program.”
The renewed agreement also maintains Lehigh's well-renowned broadcast teams, to which fans have grown accustomed. Matt Kerr, Kody Fedorcha '00 and Penske/Lehigh Athletics Hall of Famer Marty Horn '86, will continue to broadcast Lehigh football games. Kerr has been the voice of Lehigh football on radio for the past 14 seasons. Fedorcha begins his tenth season of color commentary, while Horn has been a part of Lehigh broadcasts for more than 20 years.
Another Penske/Lehigh Athletics Hall of Famer, Greg Falkenbach '72 will sit courtside with Kerr for men's basketball. Kerr enters his 12th season of Mountain Hawks play-by-play on the hardwood, while Falkenbach has been broadcasting Lehigh basketball for close to 30 years.Steve Lomangino and Gary Brownell will keep fans in tune with the bout-by-bout drama of Lehigh wrestling for the eighth consecutive year.
Tom Fallon, a household name in Lehigh Valley sports broadcasting, and ESPN Radio's Matt Markus will continue to add perspective as members of the Lehigh broadcast teams.
For fans outside the ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley listening area, Mountain Hawks contests will continue to be available online at Lehighsports.com through Lehigh's streaming partnership with Stretch Internet.
