Lehigh completes action at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Lehigh women's swimming and diving team wrapped up action at the Princeton Invitational Saturday afternoon. Thirteen more swimming events were contested on the day with Lehigh getting several strong performances from the freshman class.
Lehigh's top finish on Saturday belonged to freshman Alissa Leung, who took second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.36 seconds. Leung also led Lehigh in the 400 IM with a time of 4:43.78. Classmate Mary Samuels added a fifth place finish in 2:09.78 to lead the Mountain Hawks in the 200 fly, and also finished fifth in the 100 fly, posting a time of 58.97 seconds. Freshman Kim Weyand led Lehigh in the 200 breast with a time of 2:28.29 and also finished one spot behind Leung in the 400 IM.
Lehigh also competed in three relays on Saturday. Leung, DiDonato, junior Brooke Smalley and senior Paola Simon took third place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:52.31. Barletta, junior Katie Haycraft, Simon and junior Danielle Caruso finished fourth in the 800 free relay after a time of 8:11.54, while sophomore Meredith Bayer teamed with Barletta, Brinkhoff and Samuels to place fifth in the 400 free relay at 3:48.40.
The Mountain Hawks will be back in the pool on Friday when they face rival Lafayette. The meet is slated for a 6 p.m. start from Lehigh's Jacobs Pool.
