Bucknell knocks down Lehigh 3-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Mountain Hawks lost their second match in as many days, falling to Bucknell 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Taylor Gym.  The game scores were 30-24, 30-21 and 30-22.  Shannon Spafford led Lehigh on offense, with 11 kills and 15 digs to record a double-double; she also added a match high six blocks.  The loss drops Lehigh’s record to 4-17 (1-8) on the season, while Bucknell improves to 10-13 (4-5).

 

The Bison came out the gate fast, hitting .240 in the first two games.  Jenna Henderson recorded eight kills and six digs in those games, and hit a team best .368.  Spafford had already recorded a double-double by the end of the second game, with 10 kills and 12 digs.

 

In the final game, Bucknell was able to shut down Spafford, holding her to just one kill, three digs and two blocks.  Emilie Hardinge shined in the final game, recording seven kills to increase her team high to 11.

 

For the second straight night, the Mountain Hawks faced one of the top teams in the Patriot League, playing them tough but just could not hold on for the win.  The Brown and White made 10 errors in the final game, with just nine kills, for a hitting percentage of -.029.  Lehigh was able to out block its opponent for the second straight match, recording seven blocks to Bucknell’s five.
