COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the first-ever meeting between Lehigh and Ohio State, the No. 23 Buckeyes came out on top, defeating the Mountain Hawks 3-0 in the first match of the Buckeye Invitational at the St. John Arena. Game scores were 30-11, 30-6 and 30-16 as Lehigh falls to 0-4 on the season. Ohio State improves to 4-0.
Freshman Lindsay Brown had a team-best .333 hitting percentage as she had two kills off six total attacks. Senior Michelle Schendenmann had a team-high four kills and the team’s only service ace while classmate Cassidy Maumus had a team-best 12 digs.
The Mountain Hawks had to contend with a powerful Buckeye offense as Ohio State amounted a .521 hitting percentage. Attributing to that hitting percentage were seven players who had at least a .200 hitting percentage or better, including Kristen Dozier’s .750 hitting percentage that came from 10 kills off 12 attacks. Danielle Meyer had a game-high 12 kills and 13 digs.
Lehigh will return for its second game of the Buckeye Invitational at 5:00 pm when it takes on the Northern Illinois Huskies.
