Lehigh and Harvard set for Saturday afternoon showdown

12/9/2005 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh welcomes Ivy League foe Harvard to town on Saturday afternoon with both teams looking to snap two-game losing streaks.  The Mountain Hawks dropped a 66-55 decision at Sacred Heart on Wednesday evening, despite a career-high 30 points from junior Jose Olivero, while Harvard fell at Boston University on Tuesday night 72-63.  Lehigh has won 79 percent of its games at Stabler Arena under Billy Taylor, including an 18-4 mark versus non-league foes.  Taylor’s overall mark of 34-9 at Stabler is the best in school history, and includes a school-record 16-game winning streak.  The Mountain Hawks are 5-3 at home under Taylor versus Ivy League teams.

Lehigh’s defense is once again among the stingiest in the entire Patriot League.  The Mountain Hawks are tied for first in the league with Bucknell, allowing opponents to hit on only .397 percent of their field goal attempts, while giving up just 62.7 points per game, good for third best in the league.  The Brown and White has held four of its last five opponents to .385 percent or less from the field, including a season-low 32% in the win over Stony Brook.

Saturday’s game is scheduled to tip-off at 1:05 from Stabler Arena.  Tickets can be purchased by calling 610-7LU-GAME or prior to the game at the arena box office.  The contest will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM as well as lehighsports.com with streaming audio provided by Yahoo!
