Bethlehem, PA – Returning home after a three game road trip, Lehigh took advantage of a spirited Stabler Arena crowd as the Mountain Hawks beat Army 63-45 Friday night. The win stops Lehigh’s two-game slide and puts the Brown and White back over .500 on the season at 10-9, 4-2 in the Patriot League. The Black Knights are now 1-5 in League play, 3-15 overall.

Things started well for the Mountain Hawks as they opened the game on a 23-6 run helped out by a pair of three pointers from senior Nick Monserez, who had ten points in the first ten minutes of play.  Lehigh was up double digits for a majority of the opening half, but Army closed the half on a 14-2 run and cut the Mountain Hawks lead to seven at the break. Monserez finished the opening 20 minutes with 13 points.

In the second half, Lehigh turned to its defense, holding the Black Knights to just 7-of-24 shooting after halftime as the Mountain Hawks were able to build their lead back up to 18 points by the final buzzer.

Monserez finished with a game high 20 points, just two shy of his career high. He connected on 6-of-11 field goals including a quartet of three-pointers. Sophomore Jose Olivero chipped in 19 points and a game high nine rebounds. For the game, Lehigh shot 41 percent from the field while holding the Black Knights to 35 percent shooting. The Mountain Hawks also dominated the glass, out-rebounding Army by a 39-20 margin.

The Mountain Hawks’ four game homestand continues Sunday afternoon when Lehigh hosts Holy Cross. Tip off is set for 2:00 from Stabler Arena. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the arena box office on game day.
