Lehigh falls to Marshall in Fifth Third Championship Game

The teams played a back and forth first half, as senior Jessica DePalo picked up ten early points but also battled foul trouble. Neither team was able to build a substantial lead as the game was tied at 30 at halftime.
The Mountain Hawks opened the second half on a 10-2 run, keyed by a Sara Ellis three-pointer and a Mary Hynoski lay-up in transition. The Herd would come roaring back to take the lead, going up by as many as 12 at one point. The Mountain Hawks mounted a late rally and had one final shot down two with nine seconds remaining, but Sara Ellis’ three-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark, and
Lehigh shot 56 percent from the field for the game, and four Mountain Hawks finished in double figures, led by DePalo’s 16. Ellis added 14 and senior Mary Hynoski and sophomore Adrienne Blount had 13 apiece, for Blount a new career high. Jameka White led the Thundering Herd with 16. Crystal Champion added 14 and 11 rebounds as she was named Tournament MVP.
