Lehigh can't handle Crusaders

Worcester, MA – The slide continued for Lehigh as it suffered its ninth consecutive loss of the season falling to Holy Cross 79-40 on Wednesday evening at the Hart Recreation Center. Lehigh dropped to 4-20 overall and 1-10 in the Patriot League. Holy Cross improved to 13-13 overall and 7-4 in the league.
     

Holy Cross jumped out to an early lead and never really looked back. The Crusaders led 19-6 midway through the first and eventually extended their lead to 27-10 with just over four minutes to go. Lehigh cut the lead to ten at 33-23 on a three-pointer by Matt Logie with three seconds left before the break.
     

The Crusaders never let the lead slip below ten in the second half and led by as much as 39 before cruising to the 39 point win. It was a dismal shooting night for both teams especially the Mountain Hawks who shot just 27.7% from the field. Lehigh committed 18 turnovers in the loss and was outrebounded 48-21.
     

Logie led Lehigh with 11 points on 2-of-7 shooting. He scored six points from the charity stripe and pulled in two rebounds. Logie needs just five points to reach the 1,000 career point plateau. Matt Crawford added six points and two rebounds. Alan Goff chipped in eight points and Ra Tiah scored seven points and handed out one assist.
     

Tim Szatko led all scorers with 15 points for Holy Cross. Szatko connected on 3-of-7 attempts from the field and pulled in seven rebounds in the win. Ryan Serravalle added 13 points and Jave Meade scored ten points to round out the Crusaders in double figures.
     

Lehigh returns to action on Saturday afternoon when it travels to the nation’s capital to take on American in the Patriot League television game of the week. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
