Lehigh falls to Big East opponent Seton Hall

Bethlehem, PA-  Lehigh falls to Big East opponent, Seton Hall, by a score of three games to one leaving Lehigh with a record of 14-9.  The loss puts an end to Lehigh’s five match winning streak.  With the victory, Seton Hall improves its record to 15-8 for the season. 

Lehigh put up a tough fight in the first game, losing by a score of 27-30.  Lehigh then came back strong in the second game to beat the Pirates 30-24.  The following two games were trying for the Mountain Hawks, losing 19-30 in the third game and 24-30 in the fourth.

           Seton Hall’s Katherine Whitney led all players with 18 kills for the night and she received assistance from teammate Nicole Kelly who dished out 56 assists. 

Leading the way for Lehigh was freshman Michelle Schwendenmann who had an all around great night with 14 kills and 11 digs. Senior Jeanette Singleton also had an outstanding night with 14 kills.  Defensively, senior Jill Kober and sophomore Rebecca Gawronski led the way for the Mountain Hawks.  Kober picked up 16 digs while Gawronski provided five blocks for the team.

Lehigh returns to action when they face Patriot League opponent American.  The match is set for Thursday, October 23 at 7pm in the newly renovated Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall.
