Carl Hartdegen helped lead his 1914 lacrosse team to victory and achieve the title of co-national champions with Cornell.
Elected to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1964, Hartdegen lettered in 1912, 1913 and 1914. He led the team in scoring in both his junior and senior seasons and was the captain of the 1914 team. He was also a member of the freshman baseball and basketball teams at Lehigh and a junior athletics representative.
An outstanding performer for the Crescent Lacrosse Club following graduation, he became one of that squad's greatest all-time defenseman, showing the ability to score and play defense.
A member of Kappa Beta Phi, he also was a member of the University Orchestra in 1910-11.
Hartdegen was born in Newark, New Jersey and died on May 3, 1963.
