HISTORY
Opened in 1979, Stabler Arena serves as the home arena for the Lehigh men’s and women’s basketball programs. Equipped with team locker rooms and an adjoining team room, Stabler Arena also acts as the program's primary practice facility. Lehigh's nationally renowned wrestling program also hosts select matches at Stabler Arena, along with the EIWA Championships.

Stabler Arena was the first venue of its kind to be built in the Lehigh Valley. The arena has a long history for entertainment and sporting events with more than six million people having entered its halls since its opening. As a premier venue for entertainment in the 1980’s, 1990’s and into the 2000’s, Stabler Arena has seen the likes of Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, the Cranberries, Aerosmith, KISS, the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan and many more great artists entertain the people of the Lehigh Valley.

This 6,200 seat, multi-purpose venue located on Lehigh University’s Goodman Campus was named after 1930 graduate, Donald B. Stabler and his wife Dorothy. Stabler Arena officially opened on May 29, 1979 for the Lehigh University Commencement ceremony and has hosted concerts, rehearsals, trade shows, corporate events, professional sports teams and others. Known for its sound and acoustics for concerts, Stabler Arena is still popular today hosting numerous events each year.

The arena was home to the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks of the Professional Indoor Football League from 2011-2014, and the Lehigh Valley Outlawz of the CIFL from 2004-08. The Lehigh men's basketball program has called the arena home since the building's opening in 1979, while the Lehigh women began playing their full home schedule at Stabler in 1989-90.

In the fall of 2016, Lehigh announced several upgrades to Stabler ahead of the 2016-17 basketball season, including two new LED video scoreboards that feature enhanced video technology and measure 10 feet high and 17 feet wide. A new LED scorers table was also added that features similar capabilities as the scoreboards. Two new competition baskets were added with three-sided shot clocks, as well as two new fixed-digit scoreboards in the corners opposite the video boards, to allow for scoreboards to be visible from all four corners of Stabler Arena.

During the 2016-17 season, Lehigh opened the brand new Stabler Baseline Club, a court-level area directly behind the end line that provides high-top tables and stools. The club can be reserved on a per-game basis, as an individual or group.
