BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh senior Ali Griffin was named Patriot League Goalie of the Week on Monday following a Senior Day shutout over Holy Cross. Griffin made four saves, two in each half, to lead the Mountain Hawks to a 1-0 victory. It marked Lehigh's second Goalkeeper of the Week award this season after junior Ashley Blanks earned the honor following a 1-0 shutout at Army.
Â
The shutout marked Griffin's third of her career, this coming in her first action of the season. The Mountain Hawks outshot the Crusaders 22-6. Four of Holy Cross' shots were on goal, but the Islip, N.Y. native was there to stop them all.
Â
Junior Danielle Salans was also recognized on Monday with honorable mention laurels. The junior wrapped up an impressive campaign by scoring her team-leading fourth goal of the season on Saturday. She took a feed from classmate Jordan Goodwin and converted the game's only goal in the 47th minute. The Mountain Hawks were undefeated (2-0-2) when Salans had a point this season.
Â
Lehigh wrapped up its season with a 5-10-2 record, 3-6-0 in the Patriot League. Despite beginning 0-4-0 in league play, the Mountain Hawks won two of their next three games to jump right back into the playoff picture. Four of Lehigh's six league losses were by a single goal as a talented squad looks to bounce back in 2014.
