BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For their success in the classroom, a trio of Lehigh men's basketball players have been named to the NABC Honors Court, as announced on Wednesday. Pat Andree, Jordan Cohen and David Roelke were all recognized as upperclassmen with cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year.
Â
Lehigh's three honorees are tied for the most in the Patriot League, and mark the Mountain Hawks' first NABC Honors Court honorees since 2016. Lehigh had four honorees the year prior in 2015.
Â
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
Â
1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2018-19 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
Â
Wednesday's honors are just the latest of many academic awards. Andree and Cohen were both named to their second straight Academic All-Patriot League teams following the 2018-19 season, with Cohen also earning CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition. Andree, Cohen and Roelke all owned stellar GPAs over 3.5 following the academic year while all three were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as well. Cohen (finance) tallied a 4.0 GPA this spring, Roelke (political science) recorded a 3.70 and Andree (psychology) tallied a 3.50.
Â
As a program, Lehigh's seven Patriot League Academic Honor Roll honorees were most in Brett Reed's 12 seasons as Lehigh head coach.
Â
On the court, Lehigh wrapped up the 2018-19 campaign with a 20-11 record, its second 20-win season in the last three years. The Mountain Hawks finished 12-6 in league play and have now won double-figure Patriot League games in five straight years, and earned a top-four seed (and Patriot League Quarterfinal home game) in nine of the last 10 seasons.
