BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coming off its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, the Lehigh men's lacrosse team was ranked 10th in the preseason Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and 11th in the USILA Coaches Poll, as released on Monday. This continues a preseason full of accolades as Lehigh was ranked eighth by Inside Lacrosse/Face-Off Yearbook and 10th by Lacrosse Magazine, among other honors.

In addition, five Lehigh opponents cracked both the Media Poll and Coaches Poll: Denver (8/9), Colgate (11/10), UMass (13/12), Penn State (15/15) and Bucknell (18/18). The Mountain Hawks were a spot ahead of Patriot League foe Colgate in the Media Poll and a spot behind the Raiders in the Coaches Poll.

The Mountain Hawks are preseason favorites in the Patriot League, as announced on the league's conference call last Wednesday. In addition, senior David DiMaria, junior Ty Souders and sophomore Matt Poillon earned a spot on the inaugural preseason All-League Team. Those three, along with seniors Dante Fantoni, Noah Molnar and Mike Noone, were also named preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse.
Lehigh finished last year with a 14-3 record and captured its first Patriot League Tournament Championship before hosting Maryland in the NCAA Tournament. The Mountain Hawks open the 2013 season on Saturday, Feb. 9 against Saint Joseph's, who's led by former Lehigh assistant Taylor Wray. Opening faceoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
