BETHLEHEM ,Pa. – After continuing to rack up historic numbers as a junior, Lehigh men's lacrosse standout Craig Chick has been named a second team Inside Lacrosse Media All-American, as announced on Sunday evening. Chick is Lehigh's first All-American named to the first or second team in at least the last 87 years. Since 1931, Lehigh's 34 All-Americans have all been either third team or honorable mention honorees. In 2018, Chick broke his own Lehigh single-season record for caused turnovers (41) while breaking both the Lehigh and Patriot League career marks as well.

Chick was named an Inside Lacrosse All-American for a second straight season; last year, he garnered honorable mention laurels. Chick becomes the 13th All-American in Kevin Cassese's 11 seasons as Lehigh head coach. All 13 have come in the last seven years.

Named a second team mid-season All-American by Inside Lacrosse, Chick wrapped up the season by posting 13 groundballs and six caused turnovers in the Patriot League Tournament to earn All-Tournament Team recognition, helping lead the Mountain Hawks to the Patriot League Championship Game for the first time since 2014. Chick had three groundballs and three caused turnovers in a thrilling overtime win against No. 11/13 Navy in the semifinals. He added five groundballs and two caused turnovers in the title game vs. No. 6/8 Loyola to reach 41 on the season, breaking his previous record of 40 set as a sophomore. He now has 118 in his career, good for eighth in NCAA history. He will enter his senior season needing 40 to tie and 41 to break the NCAA All-Time record of 158 held by Detroit's Jordan Houtby.

Chick also finished the season with 50 groundballs, his third straight season with 50 or more GBs. The Edgewater, Md. native was named first team All-League for a second straight season, garnering Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Mar. 12 following Lehigh's 9-7 win at No. 12 Army West Point, a game which saw him post seven groundballs and three caused turnovers. The Mountain Hawks held the Black Knights to a then-season low seven goals. An anchor of Lehigh's defense which was ranked as high as sixth nationally, Chick broke the Lehigh career caused turnover record on Mar. 20 at No. 18/19 Hofstra and broke the league mark two games later at Boston University. Chick had at least one caused turnover in every game this season, including multiple in 12-of-17 contests.

The Mountain Hawks return a strong core of talent in 2018, highlighted by the current junior class which features Lehigh's top three scorers in Andrew Pettit, Lucas Spence and Tristan Rai who combined for 172 points this season (104 goals, 68 assists). Chick, junior Eddie Bouhall and freshman Teddy Leggett are among Lehigh's returnees defensively after combining for 85 caused turnovers this season, most in the nation among three teammates. Sophomore Conor Gaffney, a 2018 first team All-Patriot League honoree, returns in the faceoff circle while James Spence returns in goal after tallying a 9.08 goals against average and 0.498 save percentage during his freshman campaign.
