BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a breakout sophomore season, Lehigh women's lacrosse sophomore Sondra Dickey has added another award to her resume, garnering IWLCA second team All-Region honors, as announced on Friday. Dickey was previously named a first team All-Patriot League honoree after leading the Mountain Hawks in goals (54) and points (76) while standing among the team leaders in draw controls (81), groundballs (34) and caused turnovers (19).

Dickey becomes Lehigh's first All-Region honoree since Allison LaBeau and Julianne D'Orazio in 2016. Dickey is just Lehigh's third honoree since 2012 and the fifth different student-athlete named IWLCA All-Region in Jill Redfern's 10 seasons as Lehigh head coach.

Dickey was named All-Patriot League for the first time in her career. She was one of just four midfielders named to the first team as the Paoli, Pa. native emerged as one of the Patriot League's top all-around players. Dickey was named the league's Midfielder of the Week four times in 2018, tied for the most in the league, along with Jenna Collins of Navy. One of two Mountain Hawks to break the previous school record for draw controls in a season, Dickey's 81 were 34 more than the previous school mark of 47 held by Carli Sukonik.

Dickey recorded multiple goals in 15-of-19 games this season with 13 hat tricks after recording two as a freshman. Among Dickey's highlight games in 2018 was a career-high eight points and seven draw controls at Holy Cross, to go with four groundballs and four caused turnovers. At Columbia, she scored the game-winning goal with 12 seconds remaining to give the Mountain Hawks a thrilling 13-12 victory. In the Patriot League Quarterfinals vs. Holy Cross, Dickey scored four goals while collecting a career-high tying seven draw controls, including a big one to begin overtime.

Lehigh finished the season 13-6, 7-2 in Patriot League play. Despite losing three starters to season-ending injuries, the Mountain Hawks won 12 or more games for a third straight season, winning a Patriot League Tournament game and reaching the semifinals for the third time in as many years. Lehigh's seven league victories were a school record. The Mountain Hawks are 38-17 over the last three seasons.
