ANNAPOLIS, Md. – On a day in which two of the 58 players in the field broke 80, an opening round 80 by junior Reagan Jahn was good enough to tie for third place as Lehigh shot 339 to tie for fifth out of nine teams after 18 holes at the Navy Spring Invitational. Players battled wind and the threat of inclement weather at the Naval Academy Golf Club and the undermanned Mountain Hawks battled to match Monmouth for fifth place, while entering the final round just six strokes out of second place.

Jahn was the best Lehigh player by four strokes with her opening round 80. Yale's Julie Luo shot an impressive 73 given the conditions and holds a six stroke lead over Lindsay Dodovich of Bucknell. Jahn is seven shots out of the lead but just one out of second.

Senior Megan Moylan shot 84 and is tied for 19th place. Freshman Angela Ding shot 87 and is tied for 33rd place while sophomore Rebecca Markunas shot 88 and is tied for 38th. Rounding out the Lehigh contingent is freshman Alexis Brown, who sits in a tie for 45th after an opening round 90.

Lehigh played without sophomore Minuette Laessig, who will rejoin her teammates in two weeks as part of the Mountain Hawks' six-player Patriot League Championship entry.

Sparked by Luo's 73, Yale holds the lead in the team race at 316. The Bulldogs' top four scorers all shot 82 or better. Yale leads second place Towson by 17 strokes.

The start of the Navy Spring Invitational was pushed up a day to Friday after Saturday's initial forecast called for inclement weather. With Saturday's forecast looking more promising, Navy will attempt to hold the final round with a shotgun start Saturday at 10:30 a.m. If the course is unplayable, the final round will be played Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
