BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head coach Andy Coen has announced a pair of additions to the Mountain Hawks' coaching staff. Coen has added Mike Kashurba to coach Lehigh's linebackers and Jeremy Bandy to serve as offensive line coach. Both coaches have previous experience working in the Patriot League.

Kashurba has spent the last six seasons in the Patriot League, including the last four at Holy Cross, where he served as defensive coordinator and secondary coach. In his first two seasons, the Crusaders defense showed improvements of eight points and 75 yards per game allowed. His defensive units ranked in the top three in the Patriot League in scoring defense, total defense, rushing defense and third down efficiency. Kashurba mentored eight All-Patriot League performers at Holy Cross.

Prior to his stint at Holy Cross, Kashurba spent two seasons as the defensive passing game coordinator and secondary coach at Bucknell, where he worked primarily with the Bison safeties. The Bison led the Patriot League in total defense in his first year in Lewisburg and in 2013 topped the Patriot League in total defense and scoring defense. He coached three all-league performers in his two seasons at Bucknell.

Kashurba spent nine seasons as an assistant coach at Allegheny College, serving as defensive coordinator in his final six seasons. At Allegheny, Kashurba mentored 21 All-North Coast Athletic Conference selections, with his defense consistently ranking among the best in the conference. Kashurba's first football coaching position came as Mansfield's secondary coach in 2002.

"Mike Kashurba is a high energy guy with an outstanding defensive mind," Coen said. "The minute our players meet him they will feel his energy.

As an undergraduate, Kashurba was a two-sport standout at Grove City College, where he was an all-conference defensive back and started at quarterback in his senior season. Kashurba was also a two-year captain and four-time all-conference shortstop for Grove City's baseball team and served as a student assistant in 2002.

Kashurba graduated from Grove City with a bachelor's degree in business and communications and a minor in political science in 2002. He added a master's degree in exercise science and health promotion from California (Pa.) University in 2011. Kashurba and his wife, Katrina, have one son, Niko.

Bandy comes to Lehigh from Harvard, where he spent the last six season's serving as Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach for the Crimson. He coached 17 offensive linemen to All-Ivy honors, including 10 first team selections. Bandy also mentored three All-Americans.

Last season, Harvard ranked in the top half of the Ivy League, averaging 153 rushing yards per game. Bandy's line blocked for first team All-Ivy selection Charlie Booker III. Over six seasons, Bandy's line blocked for a Crimson offense that averaged 32 points and 430 yards per game.

In six seasons, six of Bandy's offensive linemen signed NFL contracts, with four currently on NFL rosters.

Bandy came to Harvard following six seasons at Holy Cross. He worked with the tight ends in his first two seasons before taking over the offensive line, where he coached 10 All-Patriot League selections, including five first team honorees. Bandy coached the offensive line in Holy Cross' 2009 Patriot League championship season, where the Crusaders also boasted the league's top offense.

Like Kashurba, Bandy coached at Allegheny College, where he spent four seasons as offensive line coach, including Allegheny's 2003 national championship season.

"Jeremy Bandy is an outstanding coach," Coen said. "I've interacted with him during his time at both Harvard and Holy Cross and I know that he will connect to our players. His knowledge of both Patriot League and Ivy League football was very important to me and our coaching staff."

A 2001 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, Bandy played both center and guard on the offensive line for the Yellow Jackets. He earned his degree in business administration with a concentration in finance.

With Kashurba now coaching Lehigh's linebackers, Tyler Ward will now assist with the defensive line and A.J. Reisig will coach Lehigh's cornerbacks.

The two-time defending Patriot League champion Mountain Hawks will open their spring practice segment in late March.
