Men's Soccer Announces 2017 Schedule

2017 SCHEDULE

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 2017 Lehigh men's soccer schedule will feature 18 regular season contests, which include an even split of nine home matches and nine away matches. The Mountain Hawks will open the season on August 25 at home against Rider and will open Patriot League play on September 23 in a home contest against Army West Point. The 113th meeting with rival Lafayette is slated for Saturday, October 14 at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

Lehigh's non-league slate is compiled of opponents from seven different conferences, which include the A-10, ACC, Big East (2), Big Ten, CAA, Ivy League (2), MAAC. Headlining the non-league schedule are road trips to power conference opponents Ohio State (Sept. 1) and Virginia (Oct. 10). The Mountain Hawks and Buckeyes will meet for the first time in the long-tenured histories of the two programs, while Lehigh and Virginia will clash for the third time since the inaugural meeting in 1998.

The Mountain Hawks have a tough test right out of the gate as they host defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion Rider in the season opener on August 25. The Broncs posted a .725 winning percentage last season, which is the highest among Lehigh's 2017 opponents. Rider joins Colgate on the list of defending conference champions that Lehigh will face this season as the Broncs and Raiders posted 13-win seasons last fall.

Including Rider, Lehigh will have two home games in the month of August as they also play host to George Washington on Aug. 27. The Mountain Hawks will follow up their opening weekend home stand with a three-game road trip to start September on which they will face Ohio State, Cornell and Penn. Lehigh will finish out the month of September with a four-game home stand against Seton Hall, Army, St. John's and Boston U.

As the calendar turns to October, the Mountain Hawks will once again be on the road for a three-straight games where they will face Colgate, Virginia before returning home to host Lafayette. Lehigh will host Patriot League foes Bucknell and Loyola for the final two contests of October before closing out the regular season with a road contest at Holy Cross on November 4.

The Patriot League Tournament is slated to begin on November 7 with the quarterfinal round. The semifinal round is scheduled for November 10 and the championship match is slated for November 12.
