BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh head men's basketball coach Brett Reed announced on Monday the signings of 6-foot-7 forward Jeameril Wilson and 6-foot-10 center Nic Lynch in the Mountain Hawks' class of 2022. The two come to Lehigh from Chicago, Illinois and Seattle, Washington, respectively, and will replace Lehigh's graduating class of Kahron Ross and Jay Jay Davis.
Â
Wilson is a hybrid forward, who graduated from Notre Dame College Prep in Chicago in 2017, playing for Coach Tom Les in 2017. This past season, Wilson led Notre Dame to a 26-6 record and a top-20 finish in the state. In March of 2017, Wilson scored a game-high 18 points, 13 in the second half to help Notre Dame past Niles North in the regional final. He was a team captain, first team All-Conference honoree and the team's Co-Most Valuable Player, averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds along with three assists and one steal. Among Wilson's many accolades was an Illinois High School Association Scholastic Achievement Award, Notre Dame College Prep's Faith, Scholarship and Service Award and an Ambassador of the Year Award.
Â
After graduation from Notre Dame, Wilson decided to attend Woodstock Academy in Connecticut and play for Coach Tony Bergeron. Woodstock is set to play a national schedule this season against some of the top prep schools in the country. Wilson played AAU on the prestigious Under Armour circuit for the Wisconsin Playground Warriors and Coach Mike Weinstein.Â
Â
"Jeameril is an athletic player with very good length, who also can make plays off the bounce," said Reed. "He gives our program positional versatility, a defensive presence and when aggressive, he's demonstrated some tremendous skills and can be very difficult to guard. His feel for the game, his skill level and his passing combined with his athleticism make him a formidable threat and someone who I think will have an excellent career here at Lehigh."
Â
Meanwhile, Lynch comes to Lehigh after a strong career playing with multiple Division I players at Seattle Prep under Coach Mike Kelly, the same school (and coach) that produced former Mountain Hawks' captain Jordan Hamilton '12. This season will mark Lynch's first as the featured post option for his team. Helping lead Seattle Prep to a 20-10 record, Lynch played on the Nike EYBL circuit this past summer for the Seattle Rotary program under coaches Daryll Hennings and Jeremy Eggers, averaging 7.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in 16 minutes per game against some of the best grass roots competition in the country. A three-star recruit by ESPN, Lynch was also invited to the All-West Camp in July where he was selected to the Top 40 game. Prior to his time with Seattle Rotary, Lynch also played AAU basketball for Coach Jim Marsh of Friends of Hoop Seattle.
Â
"Nic comes into our program and helps us with an area of need, and that's bringing size and physicality," said Reed. "He's not only a big-bodied player, but also someone who has good hands and has the ability to score around the basket. He's a diligent worker and I think that mindset of toughness, work ethic, plus the ability to score adds another dimension to our program. He is a traditional back-to-the-basket center, who will be able to really take up a lot of space and allow us to have the physical toughness to match a mentality that we really want from our team."
Â
The 2017-18 Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday when they play at No. 10 Southern Cal to begin a four-game road swing, including games at Pittsburgh, Princeton and Virginia. Lehigh returns home on Wednesday, Dec. 6 to host Yale at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased online by clicking here.
