Carotenuto named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - After a seven-point week which featured three goals and an assist, Lehigh field hockey junior Teresa Carotenuto was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Carotenuto had a hand in all four Mountain Hawk goals on the weekend, including two goals and an assist in Sunday's Senior Day victory over Georgetown.

The Offensive Player of the Week award marks the second of Carotenuto's career, and her fourth-career Patriot League weekly award (including Rookie of the Week twice in 2015). As a team, Lehigh has now won at least one award in each of the last three weeks (On Oct. 2, Drew Pecora won Rookie of the Week while last Monday, Paige Innarella was named Goalkeeper of the Week and Jackie Renda garnered Defensive Player of the Week).

Carotenuto began the weekend by scoring off a penalty corner at the 45:27 mark on Saturday at Lock Haven. The goal evened the score at one, just 5:58 after Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead. Carotenuto followed with two goals on Lehigh's first two shots vs. Georgetown Sunday. The first tied the score at one at the 11:37 mark, just 4:02 after the Hoyas took a 1-0 advantage. Carotenuto then gave Lehigh a 2-1 advantage at the 16:32 mark. She later assisted on the game-winning goal by freshman Drew Pecora at exactly 63:00. The goal gave Lehigh a 3-2 lead (which proved to be the final), only 6:05 after Georgetown evened the score at two.

The two goals on Sunday marked Carotenuto's second multi-goal game of the season and sixth of her career. For the season, Carotenuto leads the Mountain Hawks with seven goals and 15 points.

Lehigh returns to action on Saturday when it hosts No. 23 Boston University at 1 p.m.Â
