Lehigh Women Picked Fourth in Patriot League Preseason Poll

PATRIOT LEAGUE RELEASE
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In advance of the upcoming spring tennis season, the Patriot League unveiled its 2017 women's tennis preseason poll on Thursday afternoon. The Lehigh women's tennis team garnered the No. 4 spot in the poll, which is voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
The Mountain Hawks earned 84 points in the poll and were selected fourth for the second-consecutive season. Defending Patriot League Champion Boston University garnered the top spot in the poll with 124 points and 14 first place votes. Last season's league runner-up Navy is ranked second with 111 points and the remaining four first place votes. Army West Point rounds out the top-three with 107 points.
Lehigh finished last season with a 9-9 overall record to go along with a 4-4 record in league play. LU enter last season's Patriot League Championship as the No. 5 seed and fell to No. 4 Bucknell, 4-2, in the quarterfinals.
The Mountain Hawks return seven players to the roster and all six starters from last season. Christina Auyeung is back for her junior season as the squad's top returner as she earned All-Patriot League honors last season and finished with an 11-6 record at No. 1 singles with a league record of 5-3.
Lehigh opens its spring season at home against Iowa State on January 29 inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks will be hosting the 2017 Patriot League Championship which will be held on April 27-30 at the Ulrich Varsity Courts.
