BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh baseball rising senior Connor Donovan has been named a first team All-American first baseman by the Jewish Sports Review, as announced in the publication's most recent issue. Donovan joins 18 players from Division I programs across the nation including TCU, Louisville, UCLA and USC, among others.
Donovan put together a strong junior campaign in which he served as a designated hitter and first baseman as well as a key late-inning reliever out of the Mountain Hawk bullpen. The Yardley, Pa. native earned second team All-Patriot League honors after finishing the season with a .272 batting average, 26 RBI, five home runs and 22 runs scored. He put together a dominant showing to open Patriot League play as he went 5-for-9 with three home runs and six RBI in Lehigh's league-opening doubleheader at Bucknell. Donovan shares Jewish Sports Review first team All-America honors with Louisville first baseman Danny Rosenbaum.
On the mound, Donovan made 14 appearances out of the bullpen and finished the season with a 3.68 ERA, including a strong 0.96 ERA in five Patriot League appearances. He threw a season-long 5.2 innings while striking out a season-best six batters against Rider. Donovan surrendered just one earned run against league foes.
Donovan helped the Mountain Hawks to their third-straight 25-win season and third-consecutive Patriot League Tournament appearance in 2016.
