
Lehigh hands out end-of-season team awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team recently took time to reflect on the 2016 season and hand out its team awards at the Mountain Hawks' annual awards banquet.
Sophomore Christina Auyeung earned the team's Outstanding Athlete Award, given to the player who makes the most outstanding athletic contribution to the accomplishments of the team. Auyeung earned first team All-Patriot League honors for the second-straight year while playing exclusively at the top flight of singles and doubles. The Midland, Mich. native finished the season 11-6 overall and 5-3 in league play at the top flight of singles. She wrapped up the season with an 11-7 overall record at the top flight of doubles, including a 5-3 mark in Patriot League action.
Junior Jamie Campisi was awarded the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, which is given to the player who exemplifies the idea of scholar-athlete in the eyes of his or her teammates. Campisi owns a 3.98 cumulative grade point average as a double major in journalism and political science. She earned Academic All-League honors for the second-straight year. On the court, Campisi played exclusively at No. 1 doubles this season, going 11-7 overall and 5-3 in regular-season league play. Campisi played primarily at No. 3 singles throughout her junior campaign, while also making appearances at the fourth and fifth flights, compiling a 10-8 overall singles record and 4-4 mark in Patriot League play.
The Coaches Award, given to the individual who made significant contributions to the well-being of the team in terms of attitude, improvement or special leadership, was awarded to sophomore Abby Duddy. Duddy won a pair of both doubles and singles matches, while going 1-0 in both Patriot League singles and doubles.
The Mountain Hawks finished the 2016 season 9-9 overall and 4-4 against league opponents. Lehigh returns its entire roster for next season's campaign.
