Adesida Wins High Jump to Lead Lehigh at Greyhound Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's track and field team competed in its seventh meet of the outdoor season on Saturday at the Greyhound Invitational, hosted by Moravian College.
Grad student Adeolu Adesida led Lehigh on the day, grabbing the squad's lone victory in the high jump with a season-best leap of 2.08 meters. Adesida is the stadium record holder at Moravian (2.13m) and has now won the high jump three times this outdoor season. Junior Daniel Boardman finished the high jump in a three-way tie for ninth place (1.88m), with Ryan Givens coming in 20th overall.
Boardman powered his way to a sixth place performance, ECAC qualifying in the triple jump (13.81m), one spot ahead of sophomore Michael Gooding (13.32m) and four ahead of sophomore Michael Camera in 10th place (13.22m).
In the jumps, junior Daniel Reichenbach led the way for Lehigh with an eighth place showing in the long jump, followed by Camera in 16th place (6.36m) out of 39 competitors. Senior Christopher Foley surged past his previous career-high in the shot put at 15.24 meters to finish in third place overall out of over 40 competitors. Freshman Alexander Rodgers (12.58m) also took part and finished in 19th. Rodgers then led Lehigh in 24th place (36.24m) of the discus, besting his previous career benchmark by well over three meters.
Senior Beau Whitman led the way for Lehigh in 11th place (4.25m) of the pole vault.
In the sprints, freshman Emre Soybas set a new personal best (22.75) by leading the team in the 200 meter dash, placing 23rd overall. Sophomore Jake Sabatini joined him in the top half of the field with a 30th place tally (22.92). Soybas also led Lehigh in 16th place of the 400 with another personal record (50.57), with junior James Clements (24th/50.79) and freshman Clay Stabolepszy (33rd/51.29) also placing in the top 50 percent.
In the mid-distance events, sophomore James Chappell was the Brown and White's lone representative in the 800m run, finishing 24th overall. In the 1,500 meter run, sophomore Christopher Mascetti led the way in seventh place (4:01.28), with Kyle Berman joining him in the top 10 in ninth place (4:02.54). Seamus Cullinane (14th/4:05.58) and Ryan Grace (18th/4:06.40) also placed in the top 20, with all four runners setting new PRs.
Junior Jack Curran and sophomore Joseph Inglis both turned out the best times of their careers in the 5K, where Curran landed on the podium in third place (15:23.17) and Inglis crossing the line in 11th place (15:40.91).
The field of 44 in the 400 meter hurdles saw Lehigh's Tom Troxell and Andrew Culkin finish back-to-back in their heat, which landed Troxell in ninth place overall (56.60) and Culkin in 11th (56.92).
In the 4x400 relay, the Mountain Hawks grabbed a ninth place tally time of 43.31 from Fritz Isaac, Camera, Christopher Del Rossi and Sabatini.
Lehigh is also competing at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell this weekend. The meet began on Saturday and will run through Sunday afternoon. A complete recap will be available Sunday evening on Lehighsports.com.
