BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh senior offensive lineman Micah Tennant has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Football team, it was announced Thursday. The owner of the top GPA on the Mountain Hawks and a starter at left guard, Tennant was recognized for being one of the district's top performers in the classroom.

The Academic All-District teams are voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) whose schools are in the region. District 2 consists of schools from Washington, D.C., Delware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and be a starter or key reserve.

A contributor in each of the last two seasons, Tennant moved into a starting role in his senior season and has started all nine games at left guard for the Mountain Hawks. As part of Lehigh's veteran line he has paved the way for an offense that is averaging over 500 yards and 42 points per game. Last week against Fordham, Tennant helped pave the way for Lehigh's best rushing day in the Andy Coen era as the Mountain Hawks ran for 349 yards in a 58-37 win over the Rams, to move into sole possession of first place in the league standings.

Academically, Tennant carries a cumulative 3.90 grade point average as a mechanical engineering major. The Ligonier, Pa. product is a multi-year member of Lehigh's Dean's List and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Tennant has posted perfect 4.0 GPA semesters in the fall of 2014 and 2015.

Tennant is the second Lehigh football player in as many years to garner CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. Tight end Chris Ruhl was recognized last season. Tennant will now appear on the Academic All-American by way of his earning Academic All-District recognition.

The Mountain Hawks host Bucknell Saturday on Military Appreciation Day at Goodman Stadium. A victory over the Bison would give Lehigh its 11th Patriot League football title and the league's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs. Kickoff is set for just after 12:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 610-7LU-GAME or by visiting LehighTickets.com.
