BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's cross country team took home its sixth consecutive Lehigh Invitational title to open up the 2015 regular season on Friday evening on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The Mountain Hawks finished the race with a perfect score of 15 points, topping Division I opponent La Salle 15-50. In the non-Division I portion of the race, Muhlenberg topped Moravian 16-45. Lehigh sophomore Patrick Reilly took home the individual title, completing the 6K race in 18:33.90.

Overall, Lehigh captured eight of the top 10 spots and 17 of the top 20. After Reilly's top finish, junior Ryan Cooney placed third with a time of 18:43.30, one spot ahead of teammate John Tolbert, who crossed the finish line in 18:47.50. Evan Ward rounded out the top five with a 18:47.60 finish.

The Mountain Hawks placed four runners in spots six thru nine, with Samuel Layding (6th/18:48.40), Brian Arita (7th/18:50.90) and Sean Burke (8th/18:52.80) rounding out the top seven for Lehigh. Scott Mason also turned in a strong performance, finishing ninth overall in 19:05.30.

"Really pleased to see Pat Reilly, who's only a sophomore step up and be our top runner today," said head coach Todd Etters. "And it was great to see we had a pack not too far behind him.

"Overall to be able to control the whole race up front as a pack and really be able to push themselves, I thought they did a fantastic job of staying in the moment and really running hard," Etters said of his squad's performance.

"There's always areas to improve on," Etters added. "We were 18 seconds, I believe one-to-seven today and we've got to try and get that probably closer to 10 seconds. If we can do that then we'll be able to do some damage later on in the year."

The Mountain Hawks will have two weeks off before their next meet on Saturday, Sept. 19 when they hit the road for a dual meet at Lafayette in Easton, Pa.
