BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League Champion Lehigh baseball team learned that the Mountain Hawks will head to the Baton Rouge, La. NCAA Regional as the 64-team bracket was unveiled Monday afternoon. Lehigh opens the regional against host LSU, the No. 2 national seed in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, on Friday at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT from the Tigers' Alex Box Stadium.

"We knew we were going to play outstanding competition wherever we went," said head coach Sean Leary. "Baseball is a huge sport at LSU and they have an awesome atmosphere, and to get in a position like this is what we've worked so hard for. Our guys are excited to play in front of the big crowd and great atmosphere. We know we'll have our hands full with them, but that's what this is all about."

"We're so excited," said senior Connor Faust. "We were down to go anywhere, but LSU is going to be awesome. It's going to be an incredible experience and I'm happy our class gets to do this."

Lehigh enters the tournament with a 25-29 overall record and has gone 20-11 over its last 31 games. The Mountain Hawks earned the 2015 league title after winning a semifinal series against Holy Cross and taking a best-of-three championship series at top-seeded Navy.

The Mountain Hawks will be meeting LSU for the first time in program history in the regional opener Friday. The Tigers won the 2015 SEC regular-season championship and were the top-ranked team in the nation leading into the SEC Tournament.

No. 2 seeded UNCW claimed the CAA Tournament title and carries a 39-16 overall record into the Baton Rouge Regional. The Mountain Hawks and Seahawks met four times between 2010 and 2013, with the series between the two squads even at 2-2.

Tulane, the No. 3 seed in the regional, earned its first NCAA at-large bid since the 2008 season. The Green Wave are a member of the American Athletic Conference and hold a 34-23 overall record.

The Mountain Hawks will be making their second appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since 2006. Lehigh was sent to Charlottesville, Va. after winning the Patriot League Championship in 2006 and fell to host Virginia and Evansville.

The winner of the double-elimination regional will move on to play the winner of the Houston Regional in Super Regionals, with the winner of the eight Super Regionals advancing to the College World Series.
