
Martins named Academic All-Patriot League

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's basketball sophomore Lexi Martins has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League squad for her success in the classroom and on the court, as announced by the league on Thursday morning.
Martins holds a strong cumulative grade point average of 3.49 in Lehigh's College of Arts and Sciences. The sophomore earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll a season ago and has landed on Dean's List with a semester GPA of 3.6 or above on two occasions while at Lehigh.
The academic award adds to Martins' list of postseason honors, as the forward was named second team All-League Tuesday. She finished the regular season as the leading scorer and rebounder on the Mountain Hawk squad averaging 14.3 points and 11.1 boards per contest. Her rebounding mark leads the Patriot League and ranks 15th in all of Division I. Martins recorded an impressive 17 double-doubles this season, leading the league and ranking 11th in the nation in the category. The Irvington, N.Y. native also finished the season ranking second on the team in assists (60) and third in made three-pointers (18).
Martins and the sixth-seeded Mountain Hawks open up the Patriot League Tournament at No. 3 Holy Cross Friday at 6 p.m. Free video will be available on the Patriot League Network with audio coverage on ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley 1230 and 1320 AM.
