BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Riding a season-high three-game winning streak, the Lehigh women's lacrosse team wraps up nonleague play with a Tuesday trip to Rutgers. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m. live on the Big Ten Network with Dean Linke and Courtney Connor on the call. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a thrilling last-second 9-8 win at Bryant on Saturday, Lehigh's third win in five days.
Â
The busy stretch goes far beyond solely last week. Tuesday will be the Mountain Hawks' sixth game in 14 days and ninth game of the month. Lehigh is 4-3 this month, which includes wins in four of its last five. The Mountain Hawks' offense has come alive, averaging 14.25 goals over the four victories. Sophomore Allison LaBeau has led the charge, tallying 11 points over the last two games. She finished last week with 15 points (12 goals, three assists) to earn Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors. LaBeau's fifth goal of the game at Bryant Saturday snapped an 8-8 tie and gave the Mountain Hawks a last-second 9-8 win. The goal came with 4.5 seconds remaining after the Bulldogs made a late-game charge to tie the score. Freshman Kayleen Kelly grabbed the ensuing draw control and the Mountain Hawks held on for the final shot, which LaBeau converted.
Â
Lehigh played a very clean game, turning the ball over a season-low 10 times on Saturday. The Lehigh defense has continued its strong play, improving its goals against average to 8.27 which stands third in the Patriot League and just 0.03 behind second-place Colgate. With their 9.91 goals per game (fourth in the league), the Mountain Hawks feature one of the most balanced squads in the Patriot League.
Â
Junior Kendall Garden was also recognized on Monday with Patriot League Midfield Player of the Week honors. The do-it-all midfielder filled up the stat sheet, contributing all over the field. She tallied eight groundballs, eight draw controls and two caused turnovers for the week as part of a defense that allowed just 20 goals over the three games. Seven of them came in the second-half Saturday, but Lehigh still held down a strong Bryant offense which had scored 14, 13 and 16 goals over its previous three games. Garden leads the team (and is second in the Patriot League) with 22 caused turnovers while senior Lauren Willcox is second with 18 (which is also third in the league). Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Tvedt has continued to progress, impressing as of late. Her goals against average for the season stands at 7.89.
Â

Lehigh has won four straight road games overall and are 4-2 on the road this season with both losses coming to NCAA Tournament teams from 2014 - Penn State and Jacksonville.
