BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a pair of strong performances, Lehigh men's basketball freshman Kahron Ross has earned his second straight Patriot League Rookie of the Week award, and fifth this season, as announced by the league on Monday. Ross tallied 17 points and 16 assists over two Lehigh victories last week. His five Rookie of the Week honors are by far the most in the league. Next most is Loyola's Andre Walker and Bucknell's Nana Foulland with two apiece.
Â
Lehigh has now earned three straight Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors, beginning with Brandon Alston winning on Jan. 26 and continuing with Ross each of the last two weeks.
Â
Ross began the week with seven points and 11 assists in Lehigh's dominant 103-74 win over Army. It marked his fourth-career game with 10+ assists. In the process, he moved from 14th to seventh in school history for assists in a single season. The Jonesboro, Arkansas native didn't turn the ball over to better his already impressive assist-to-turnover ratio. The Mountain Hawks became the first team to eclipse 100 points in a Patriot League game since 2010.
Â
Ross went on to score ten points while adding four rebounds and five assists at Loyola Saturday. For the season, he's averaging 9.9 points and a Patriot League leading 6.0 assists. His 139 assists this season are currently good for sixth in school history.
Â
Also recognized on Monday was sophomore Tim Kempton, who tallied 35 points and 16 rebounds over the two games. He scored 17 points against Army then had 18 at Loyola (12 in the second half). He shot an impressive 59 percent from the field for the week (13-of-22).
Â
Ross, Kempton and the Mountain Hawks will return home this Thursday to host American at 7 p.m. That game will air live nation-wide on CBS Sports Network.
